It was the spring of 2004, a sparkling, sunny morning in Marin County, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. I met a friend at an outdoor cafe, and as we settled in with our lattes she asked about what I had been writing lately.
“Last night I brought down a message about how love, hope and giving weave together in our lives,” I replied. There was a pause. “LoveHopeGive!” she exclaimed. “That’s a domain name!” She opened her laptop and logged onto GoDaddy. “It’s available. I’ll get it for you.” In minutes www.lovehopegive.com was registered in my name. How prescient she was, not only to foresee that I would be developing a web site but also to recognize precisely what it would represent. Those three words encapsulate my writing – and my life. She nailed it. |
